What We Believe.
What we believe shapes how we worship, how we live, how we love people, and why we preach the Gospel. These are the biblical convictions at the heart of The Potter’s House Christian Fellowship.
Christianity is more than a collection of ideas. What we believe about God, Jesus, salvation, the Holy Spirit, the Church, and our mission shapes the way we live.
The truths we stand on.
These convictions are rooted in Scripture and form the foundation of our faith and ministry.
The Bible Is the Word of God
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative, and inerrant Word of God.
Scripture · KJV
2 Timothy 3:15–17
Read in The Message15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Peter 1:21
Read in The Message21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Revelation 19:11–16
Read in The Message11And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
Saved by Grace Through Faith
We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature, and that all are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ, and that only by God’s grace through faith alone are we saved.
Scripture · KJV
John 3:16–19
Read in The Message16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
John 5:24

Read in The Message8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Titus 3:5
Read in The Message5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
The Resurrection of the Saved and Lost
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and those who are not unto the resurrection of damnation.
Scripture · KJV
John 5:28–29
Read in The Message28Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
The Unity of Believers
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Scripture · KJV
Romans 8:9
Read in The Message9But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
1 Corinthians 12:12–13
Read in The Message12For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Galatians 3:26–28
Read in The Message26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Read in The Message16Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
1 Corinthians 6:19–20
Read in The Message19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Ephesians 5:18
Read in The Message18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Living Out the Love of God
We believe that we as Christians are examples of the love of God in this world. It is this agape love that we desire to possess and without which we have no right to call ourselves Christians.
Scripture · KJV
1 John 4:16–17
Read in The Message16And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 17Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
Preaching the Gospel to the World
We believe it is the mandate of the whole Church to go into the whole world and to preach the Gospel to every living creature.
Scripture · KJV
Mark 16:15
Read in The Message15And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Matthew 28:19–20
Read in The Message19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
The Gospel is at the center.
Scripture points us to Jesus. Jesus provides salvation. The Holy Spirit changes lives. And the Church is called to carry that message into the world.
What does this mean for you?
Christian faith is not simply agreeing with a list of beliefs. The Gospel calls each of us to personally respond to Jesus Christ.
